Momodora: Reverie Under the Moonlight is the fourth game in the Momodora series and is a prequel to the previous games.[1]

The game was developed by Brazilian indie developer Bombservice, and was published by Playism. Initially released for Microsoft Windows in 2016, it soon got ported to several other systems, namely Xbox One and eventually the Nintendo Switch.

Reverie Under the Moonlight is notable for having a different artistic style than the previous Momodora games, namely it features more realistic sprites and a rich environment.

A screencap of Kaho using her ranged attack
Like the previous games, Momodora: Reverie Under the Moonlight is described as a side-scroller and a metroidvania game and can only be played in Single-Player. The game follows the story of a priestess named Kaho, who is travelling from Lun to the Kingdom of Karst to gain an audience with the queen in hopes of finding a cure to the corruption of the land, including that of her village Kaho explores a variety of areas along the way, where the player can collect items and fight monsters. All areas in the game end in boss fights. The player can use both melee and ranged attacks as well as items collected along the way.

The game has received very favorable reviews and was the one of the first games in the series to get a Steam release and, because of this, it also includes achievements, among those being 'Pacifist', where one has to finish the game without killing any common enemy, and 'True Ending', received for getting to the True Ending of the game.
